Profile picture of Jody

Hi, I’m Jody.

My passions are reading, writing, editing, and seeing books come to life. I also love beauty in all its forms: art, music, poetry, and literature but also a well-made tea, Gothic cathedral, and lively pollinator garden. So here’s the short version of my story:

With a double major in English and philosophy, I had a great opportunity to work on a research project on the relationship between aesthetics (the study of art and beauty), moral philosophy, and literature. My strong interest in the humanities and moral philosophy led me to earn my master’s degree in bioethics and humanities, and I taught writing as an adjunct instructor and served as a writing coach and tutor. As a writing instructor, I came to appreciate the beauty of the craft of writing and the practice of style and clarity.

From here I began working as a freelance editor and writer for various traditional publishing companies, including Cavendish Square and Rosen. As the editor of over fifty nonfiction books, I continued to learn from seasoned editors and copy editors and hone my editing skills. I have also edited various projects for self-publishing clients.

My essays and poetry have been published in various places like Public Discourse, Anselm Society, and Ekstasis. I am also a member of Catholic Literary Arts.

In 2021, I self-published a journal called Behold: A Reflection Journal Where Wonder, Creation, and Stewardship Meet. This journal is featured in Thy Olive Tree’s Market, which brings beautiful and artisan-quality Catholic books into one place. I also serve as an instructor in writing and editing in the Thy Olive Tree’s Fiat Self-Publishing Academy.

If you love beauty and creativity as much as me, sign up for my Substack newsletter called A Holy Wonder.
