Let’s bring your project to life.

Words can do more than convey meaning. A well-crafted piece of writing engages readers and compels them to see their lives and the world from new angles. Through beautiful storytelling and well-honed arguments, my writing strives to capture reality in all its detail and invites others to ponder that reality with awe and wonder.

Here are my typical projects:

  • Write articles on various topics related to literature, ecology, ethics, virtue, liberal arts education, and faith.

  • Write articles on the transformative impacts of programs, conferences, and pilgrimages.

  • Write copy for communication purposes.

  • Edit and proofread manuscripts, articles, blogs, and newsletters.

  • Create content for newsletters and curriculum materials.

  • Develop and implement editorial schedules.

Editing packages

  • Manuscript Assessment

A manuscript assessment looks at the manuscript in full and includes a detailed report with constructive feedback and notes on various elements, including style, structure, marketability, etc. This report also offers suggestions on how to improve your manuscript. A manuscript assessment does not include developmental editing or copy editing.

  • Developmental Editing

Developmental editing (also known as line editing or substantive editing) includes a detailed report and in-text notes in addition to a thorough line edit. Line editing goes more in-depth than copy editing by examining how style and clarity can be improved at the sentence level.

  • Copy Editing

Copy editing focuses on word choice, syntax, and grammar and reviews the overall flow, style, and clarity of your manuscript without deep line editing.

  • Proofreading

Proofreading only looks at punctuation and spelling. This service is great for a final draft.

  • Children's Picture Book

This package includes a detailed report with constructive feedback, copyediting, proofreading, and in-text notes and suggestions.

    Add-on: Art and layout review

  • Writing Mentor

Mentoring involves helping you navigate your way through self-publishing. This is perfect for someone who has a great idea but isn’t sure where to begin. I can help you brainstorm and work through your ideas or walk you through the steps to preparing a strong manuscript.

“Jody is the BEST!!! From the moment we started talking about my work she shared my excitement for it. Her ideas and critiques were incredible and really helped me develop my project. She’s lightning fast with sending edits and thorough about answering my questions. She’s also just a joy of a person, and it’s important to enjoy someone who’s helping to improve your book baby! I would 1000% recommend her for any type of editing services!”

“Jody edited a course I wrote about self-publishing. She was fantastic to work with! She pointed out areas I never would have considered and pushed me to make my course so much stronger. She provided prompt feedback and answered all my questions. I was working on a very tight timeline and Jody helped me accomplish everything on time! I could tell she really cared about helping me succeed. I will definitely be going back to Jody for future projects!”

“Every writer needs a good editor. After months immersed in my project, making edits and micro-edits with every read-through, and feeling I could take the manuscript no further, I sent it to Jody. She's like a gem-cutter. In her capable hands, my writing efforts now gleam. Because of her, this book exceeds even my expectations. I'm grateful for her work, and delighted to present the finished book to my audience.”
